Dry Rub

  • 3 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 and ½ teaspoons pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Chicken

  • 3 pounds bone-­in, skin­-on chicken pieces (breast pieces halved crosswise and drumstick and thigh separated)
